European Campsite Awards 2024 – The Winners

Every year, Alan Rogers and The Caravan and Motorhome Club join forces to crown the best campsites in Europe. There are 11 awards up for grabs, covering categories such as “Accessibility”, which we’re thrilled was introduced last year. European travel is one of our favourite things about caravanning, so it was a pleasure to be invited to this event, and we’re excited to tell you all about it!

As usual, the awards gala was held during the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show, where the industry gathers for a week at the Birmingham NEC. The event, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, fell on the evening of Thursday the 15th of February 2024, and we got all dressed up for the occasion. After a drinks reception, we sat down to hear the latest news and updates from the Alan Rogers and Caravan and Motorhome Club teams. This highlighted all aspects of their foreign travel services, some interesting statistics and trends, and the benefits of working closely with their European campsite networks.

After the dinner, comedic actor and presenter, Rowland Rivron, took to the stage to announce the highly anticipated European Campsite Award winners.

Among the names being called out, we were delighted to hear some familiar ones. Camping l’Isle Verte, runner-up for the “Welcome Award”, was our home for a couple of days back in 2022. We were instantly taken back to a warm summers evening on the banks of the Loire River. Another name that brought back fond memories was l’Orangerie de Beauregard, runner-up for the “Accessibility Award”. Also located in the Loire Valley, we stayed there in 2022 and were impressed by their attention to detail when it came to wheelchair access. I could easily manoeuvre around the whole site, and they’d fitted a gradual ramp into the swimming pool instead of steps. Not to mention the cottage available to hire, complete with a wet room, profiling bed and hoist!

A massive congratulations to all of the winners of these awards. The standards are getting higher year on year and it was great to see the site owners getting recognition for the hard work they put in to make our holidays special. We’ve had the pleasure of staying at a couple of them in the past – Camping l’Isle Verte, runner-up in the “Welcome Award”, and l’Orangerie de Beauregard, runner up in the “Accessibility Award” – and we can wholeheartedly say that they are both worthy winners.

We’ve now got even more locations on our ‘must visit’ list. Perhaps we’ll see you there?!
