Qualkem Cassette Toilet Chemicals

Having been contacted by Qualkem at the start of the 2021 season, we were asked if we would like to try some of their caravan chemical products on our adventures, with a view to share them on our Adventure Kit page. Our conditions were simple - We would only recommend it if we liked it enough to continue buying it ourselves, and we would be as honest and as thorough as our readers would expect from us.

Wanting to give them a good go before sharing our thoughts with you, we have been using the following products consistently and extensively throughout the year.

Here’s how we got on… (Spoiler alert - We really did like them, but we did have a small issue which we’ve gone into detail about below.)

What Did We Use?

40 Shot - Cassette Toilet Waste and Rinse In One

40 Shot - Pink Flush and Bowl Cleaner In One

How Did We Get on?

We found these cassette toilet chemicals a breeze to use. The bottles have a measuring feature that fills up as you squeeze them, so you can easily and cleanly get the correct dose. They performed well, they smelt amazing (seriously, I could bathe in this stuff!), and we love that the bottles are recyclable.

Pro Shot toilet chemicals- pink flush

As we also had a bottle of the flush tank chemical, we didn’t use the blue for its ‘all in one’ capabilities. I’m not sure why, perhaps it’s just habit that we prefer to use pink fluid in the flush tank.

We love the fact that they both last so long (up to 40 doses of the pink and up to 50 of the blue) and that you can clearly see when they’re getting low, as this means that we no longer need to carry around extra bottles and can save on weight when towing.

Loo Tubes

We were also sent a box of Loo Tubes to try. These are individual sachets of the same chemicals that come in the bottles. A lot of people get on well with these as they are already measured out in the correct dose and you can see exactly how many you have left before you need to restock, but we discovered that they’re not really for us. This is because we found it a bit of a faff to open the little plastic packets when your hands are wet/mucky and it feels like unnecessary waste to us when we could use the recyclable bottles instead. The bottles are also more cost effective, which is quite important to us.

Overall Verdict

As we mentioned above, we did have a small issue, and that was that our bottles leaked when stowed in our caravan locker, no matter how tightly the lids were screwed shut. We’re not sure exactly what caused this, but we have been assured that it’s an isolated incident, and aside from that we loved the products!
