USB Rechargeable Hand Warmer

If, like me, you have cold hands but a warm heart, this may be just what you need on those chilly days where you just can’t seem to warm up!

For the majority of my life I’ve struggled with getting cold hands when out and about during the chillier months. If there’s a breeze and the temperature is 15ºc or below, my hands are the first to feel it, and when they do they don’t function like hands should- Which is more than inconvenient when you rely on your hands to drive the wheelchair that gets you around!

If you’re a regular follower of this website you’ll know that we are avid, all-season travellers, so just “staying home” is definitely not an option.

Instead, we found a solution in my XGUO Rechargeable Hand Warmer.

What’s Included?

  • Rechargeable hand warmer.

  • USB charging cable.

  • Wrist strap.

  • Carry pouch.

  • Instruction manual.

How Does It Work?

This hand warmer charges via USB in just a couple of hours, and lasts between 5 and 10 hours switched on. There are 3 heat settings, controlled by one small button. You hold the button down to switch it on and off, and you press it once to change between heat levels. By double-tapping this button you can see the battery levels, this is shown by the small LED lights on the side lighting up blue, and the same lights glow red to indicate heat level.

It can also be used as a portable power bank.

My Thoughts:

Positives-

Trying various hand warming solutions in the past has never worked out for me. I often find gloves too cumbersome, disposable hand warmers aren’t cost effective or environmentally friendly, and gel heat packs require effort and forward-planning - So when I was brought this USB rechargeable hand warmer a few years ago I didn’t have particularly high hopes, but was looking forward to trying it.

It has since become an important piece of kit for our winter adventures!

Although my hands are relatively small, I love the size and smooth pebble shape of this hand warmer. It’s comfortable and easy to hold, and the wrist strap is a good way to secure it. I find the button easy enough to press, which is important when you have the strength of a mouse! Once switched on, it starts to heat up immediately and quickly reaches its hottest temperature, which I personally find too hot, so I tend to have it on the medium setting.

I love that it’s charged via USB so its easy to top up in the car or caravan, but I can use it a good number of times between charges.

Negatives-

The only negatives I have for this hand warmer are that you obviously need to be holding it in order to benefit from the heat, which means your hands are occupied so you’re unable to do much else; and the fact that the wrist strap broke pretty easily, so we had to tie it in a knot.

Overall Verdict:

For me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. It heats up super quickly and can get my hands from “numb and barely functioning” to “fully able to use my phone” in as little as 15 minutes- Which is record timing!

I find it a “handy” little gadget for winter adventures and would recommend it to anyone who struggles with cold hands.
