Gone are the days where we had to wrestle with our wet and muddy 25m hook up lead to stow it before travelling, and it makes setting up a doddle too, as the cable is completely tangle-free when you arrive.
How Does it Work?
It’s fairly self-explanatory, but holding the centre of the reel in one hand, you use the other hand to wind the outer ring around, which in turn reels in the cable. This means you can stand in one spot and reel the cable in straight to you, rather than having to fetch the length of it. The cable is then neatly stored on the reel until it’s next used.
Top tips for buying/using a hook-up cable reel…
Avoid the versions where the black handle isn’t bolted through the main reel frame, as they have a tendency to fall off. We’ve nearly lost our handle on a few occasions because of this, and it would be difficult to use without.
It’s is essential that you fully unwind the entire length of cable from the plastic reel before connecting. Failure to do so could easily result in overheating and cause a fire.
Overall, this is a great additional accessory for your caravan, motorhome or camper van, and makes the process of arriving/leaving that much simpler!
